Phil Simmons, the head coach of Bangladesh, is set to temporarily depart from the ongoing tour of Sri Lanka to seek medical consultation in London.
Contrary to some speculation, Simmons' trip is not related to a performance review requested by BCB president Aminul Islam. Instead, the visit is for a pre-scheduled appointment with his physicians in the UK.
The former West Indian opener is anticipated to rejoin the team in Sri Lanka on July 7, making him available for the third ODI of the series. Following the ODI matches, Bangladesh is scheduled to compete in three T20Is.
The Bangladesh team has faced mixed fortunes on the tour thus far. While they secured a draw in the first Test match, they subsequently lost the second Test, conceding the series to Sri Lanka. In the first ODI, a dramatic batting collapse led to a disappointing defeat.
