The latest ICC Test rankings reflect the impact of recent performances in both Test and T20I cricket. Rishabh Pant of India and Ben Duckett of England are the major movers, achieving career-high rankings following impressive displays in the first Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Headingley.
Rishabh Pant has surged to seventh place in the ICC Test batting rankings after scoring centuries in both innings at Headingley. His scores of 134 and 118 made him only the second wicketkeeper, after Zimbabwe’s Andy Flower in 2001, to achieve this feat in a Test match. Notably, Pant is also the first Indian wicket-keeper batter to achieve 800 rating points in Test history.
Joe Root maintains his position as the No. 1 Test batter globally, with fellow Englishman Harry Brook close behind. India’s Shubman Gill has also climbed the ranks, moving up five places to 20th after his century in the first innings.
India’s pace spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah, remains the No. 1 Test bowler after another five-wicket haul at Headingley, reinforcing his dominance in red-ball cricket. Ben Stokes of England has moved up three places to secure the No. 5 spot in the Test all-rounder rankings after contributing significantly with both bat and ball.
Significant changes were also observed in the T20I rankings following the tri-series in Glasgow, featuring the Netherlands, Nepal, and Scotland. Michael Levitt from the Netherlands jumped 16 places to 14th due to consistent performances. Scotland’s Brandon McMullen also made an impression, rising 20 spots to joint 38th.
The ICC rankings continue to serve as a key indicator of individual performance, reflecting the impact of every run and wicket on the global cricket hierarchy.
