The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to introduce its own T20 league in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing trend among state associations.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, has officially confirmed the decision to Cricbuzz. While the launch is confirmed, the GCA is still in the process of determining a suitable time frame for the tournament. Details such as the final number of participating teams are yet to be decided.
These domestic T20 leagues have emerged as crucial scouting grounds for IPL franchises. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra already provide platforms for local talent to shine and potentially secure a spot in the Indian Premier League. Many of these leagues are typically held in June and July, after the IPL season concludes in May.
